Tracie Jackson
Diné (Navajo)
My name is Tracie Jackson (she/they) and I’m a multidisciplinary artist who uses footwear, paint, beadwork, and jewelry as their tools to express my love for my Diné culture. In my full time career, I am a Footwear Designer at Manitobah focusing on progressing Indigenous Footwear and Lo-Tek methods of make.
I grew up in Northern Arizona on-and-off the Navajo Nation and was raised by my mother, aunts, and grandparents. I am a 4th generation Diné artisan in my family, my elders before me were silversmiths, rug weavers, and moccasin makers.
My elders taught me the significance of keeping our traditional arts alive which led me down the path to becoming a designer myself. I use my art and platform to tell Indigenous stories and bring awareness to Indigenous issues.
