Keri Wilborn

Hausa (West African decent), Welsh, Chahta (Choctaw), Ni-U-Kon-Ska (Osage)

Keri Wilborn is a multi-ethnic Indigenous mother and grandmother born in Eugene, Oregon.

Her ancestral roots trace back to the Great Plains and continue onto West Africa through her mother’s lineage. She has been creating art since before she could
walk, according to her family’s accounts. You could find her in her little yellow bedroom in her house where she grew up in the heart of NE Portland sketching on her easel on most days. Keri’s mother (Hausa, Chahta & Osage) always encouraged and supported her daughter’s talents. So, a lot of Keri’s work, past & present, has been a tribute to her mother, who became an ancestor in 2020.

There have been many moments in her life where she has taken breaks from her art because life got in the way, but she has always returned to it after a hiatus or three. After all, she believes that art gives life more meaning, and life gives art meaning too.
